The 29th of June is open to side-events, these events are organized by the community and are provided "as-is".

Hyves “Open” Hackathon

June 29, 14:00-20:00 | Location: Hyves HQ | Registration required

Hyves, Holland's largest social network organizes a hackathon on open standards and open techniques.

Your challenge:

  • to hack an application in just a few hours.

Our input:

  • a quick introduction on all Open standards and Open techniques that Hyves uses and you could use for development of you app. For example: oAuth, OpenID, OpenSocial and the XMPP protocol;
  • our best developers to help you kick ass;
  • food and beverages for all participants;
  • drinks to round off a splendid afternoon.

What to do now?

  • come up with a great idea on an application;
  • subscribe in time, space is limited;
  • make sure you bring your laptop, we will provide juice and wifi :)

Amsterdam.rb BarCamp

Wes Oldenbeuving & Julio Javier Cicchelli are organizing a Ruby BarCamp at Escape in the center of Amsterdam.

It is an unconference, so there is no fixed schedule. Sessions you can expect:

  • Sam Aaron: Communicative Programming with Ruby

  • Jan Lehnardt: CouchDB (or an introduction to Erlang)
  • Justin Halsall & Menno van der Sman: Location Based Search using Ruby on Rails

There will be a lot of discussions and time for small presentations, so if you like to present something bring your laptop.
